Gary Seaman 1971

Gary Seaman shaped the original Windsurfer one-design board for Hoyle and later designed boards exclusively for speed sailing. In fact, Jaap Van der Rest from Holland sailed a Gary Seaman designed board at the second Schweitzer Speed Trials in 1980 to break the class-A world speed record by sailing 24.68 knots.

Today, board sailors are approaching speeds of up to 50 knots.
