Welcome to the story behind Windsurfing's first decade, from 1967 to 1977 that details Windsurfing's history and progression of the Original Windsurfer.
Windsurfing grew and thrived thru the dedication of Hoyle and Diane Schweitzer, my parents. Their passion and determination introduced the world to Windsurfing and changed the lives of anyone who experienced the thrill and excitement of Windsurfing for the first time, and for years to come.
The Windsurfer One Design is the Original Windsurfer. It was an approachable introduction to the world of Windsurfing and a lifestyle that re-defined the world of sailing. It brought so many people together from all over the world that at times it made the world feel like a much smaller place. Above all it encouraged a "do it anywhere there's wind and water" attitude of fun and adventure.
I can't imagine life without Windsurfing or the Original Windsurfer. I hope you enjoy this story and embrace the spirit in which the sport was founded.
