February
The first images appear of the "Kailua Kids" (Mike Horgan, Ken Kleid, Tommy Marciel, Larry Stanley) capturing the thrill of windsurfing in the waves. Steve Wilkings's photography introduced the world to wave sailing and had a huge impact on the sport.
July
Instructor certification courses were offered. Windsurfing International implemented a worldwide school system and offered certification courses for instructors.


Another speed record was set in Weymouth, England 13.9 knots on a tandem windsurfer. Above image is Hoyle and Matt Schweitzer pushing the limits on a tandem board in 1975 .



Freestyle and slalom events were introduced at the North American Championships on Association Island, New York.

August
The European Championships were held in Maarssen, Holland and Japan's Championships took place on Okinawa.

The 1975 World Championships were held in Europe on the Isle of Bendor, France. With 212 entrants, the world of sailing had been put on notice that windsurfing had developed momentum. see results

In 1975, 4,310 Windsurfers were sold worldwide. 2,820 in Europe, 1,176 in the U.S. and 314 in Japan.
